The Structured Product Specialist role is a technical expert in product marketing and development. The product marketing aspect of the role involves the SP Specialist to liaise with the bankers and advisors to support the distribution through product training, attending client meetings and promote end to end new or existent product offering. The SP Specialist will also require a solid understanding of the macroeconomics environment, derivatives experience and a deep engagement 3rd part Counterparties in order to generate new ideas to the platform aligned with the Research view and local flavours, creation of product documentation, product platform management including after sales process follow-up.
This is a senior role within the SP team and the role holder will work in partnership with Investment Advisors and other members of the team. Fundamentally, the role holder will also interface with Front Office at all levels. Externally, the role will build and maintain the strong partnership with all counterparties in the approved panel.
Product Marketing: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Private Bankers to promote and support the distribution of structured products. SP sales are driven through accompanying Private Bankers in client meetings, delivering banker training in support of product launches, both through team meetings and individual coaching. By incorporating client and Private Bankers’ feedback, it helps identifying opportunities for Structured Product ideas both for flow products and tailor made launches.
Product Development: Generation of new ideas through engaging with external counterparties and identifying/creating opportunities, and summarise for discussion within the regular Investment Committee Meetings. Source pricing and probe terms with suppliers, write marketing material (term sheets, Factsheets) and obtain proper approval. Manage competitive tenders, negotiating terms with counterparties and ensuring full implementation of the Open Architecture policy. Manage product through its life cycle, performing after-sales reviews and providing commentary for use by sales teams and advisors. Engage with relevant infrastructure functions (operations, finance, credit, other GIS desks, compliance, legal). Ensure successful implementation with channels, and track benefits.
Driving Sales: Delivery of revenue targets to maximise profitability across the SP range. Develop and agree plans with Head of the team to drive sales of SP through targeted campaigns and as part of holistic client discussions. Join sales calls and build up excellent relationships with the Front Office. Attendance at team sales meetings to raise awareness of the SP range and new developments. Work with all sales teams and advisors to drive new product sales and increase client product penetration.
Front Office Support: Provide expert advice on SP and support Front Office in pitching to prospects. Ensure sales support tools and material includes relevant and engaging content in relation to SP. Ensure appropriate product messages are built into customer contact strategy.
Idea Generation: Sourcing & identification of ideas to fit either our internal research views or specific reverse enquiries
Excellent and deep understanding of Structured Product and derivatives across asset classes: equities, currencies, fixed income, credit and commodities, either form a sales side perspective and from a buy side perspective. Proven ability to use derivatives to solve investment problems, as well as explain them to private bankers and clients. General understanding of private banking risk environment and product set and needs.
